The 2025 offseason trade between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears seemingly switched the fortunes of the two franchises. The acquisition of All-Pro offensive guard Joe Thuney has propelled a young Bears team to the Divisional round of the postseason.
Thuney was named first-team All-Pro again in 2025 alongside former Chiefs teammate Creed Humphrey. The veteran leadership and influence on success are impossible to ignore, as he has now played on nine division championship teams in 10 NFL seasons. Between the Chiefs and the New England Patriots, he has won four Super Bowls, playing a significant role in each.
"Joe has meant a lot to our offense," said Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle during a recent press conference. "He's meant a lot, both on the field with the offensive line being able to communicate and talk in the meeting room and things like that, and then also just his experience in the league."
The Chiefs acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and freed up much-needed salary cap space in last offseason's trade. The trade can't entirely be judged until after this April's NFL Draft. The Bears host the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round on Sunday night.
