Former Duke guard Jared McCain was a difference maker for the Oklahoma City Thunder once again Friday night as they took a pivotal 2-1 series lead.
Despite coming off the bench, McCain was the game's third-highest scorer, with 24 points in 27 minutes of play. Only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama scored more, as the two MVP candidates each scored 26. When McCain was on the floor, Oklahoma City outscored San Antonio by 28 points as they cruised to a 123-108 win even with Jalen Williams sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Following the game, McCain was candid about his playoff success so far this season.
“I knew we would definitely be a great team," he said. "I didn't know how much I'd be contributing.”
Looking ahead, McCain and the Thunder will have Saturday off before Sunday's Game 4 in San Antonio.
