Josh Whitman has made another hire — and they usually turn out pretty good.
Jenna Hall is his pick to lead Illini softball into the future.
Hall, a former All-American for Illinois, will be the third head coach in program history after Illinois fired Tyra Perry last month.

Illinois said Hall agreed to a five-year contract.
She spent the last four years as head coach at Ohio, where she was twice named MAC Coach of the Year.
Hall played for the Illini from 2003-06 and finished her career as the school record-holder for:
- Season Batting Average (.481)
- Career Batting Average (.357)
- Slugging Percentage (.580)
- OBP (.486)
- Home runs (33)
- RBI (142)
- Total bases (361)
- Walks (148)
