Tempers flared Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium, where Florida State’s third base coach Ty Megahee was ejected after arguing a strikeout call in an NCAA Tournament elimination game against Coastal Carolina.

Megahee was tossed in the bottom of the third inning following Brayden Dowd’s strikeout. The disputed call appeared to be the breaking point for the umpiring crew, which quickly intervened as the argument escalated.

At the time of the ejection, Florida State trailed 1-0 and was fighting to stay alive in the tournament. The Seminoles entered the game needing a win to avoid elimination.

The tension on the field mirrored the high stakes of the matchup, with the victor set to face the loser of the Northern Illinois–St. John’s game on Sunday.

Play was later halted due to a rain delay, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already charged afternoon, as Florida State sought a comeback to extend its postseason run.
