Florida basketball and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are finalizing plans to play a non-conference matchup at the Kia Center in Orlando on Dec. 12, according to reports.

The two programs have faced off a total of 44 times prior but have not seen each other since 1987, when the Gators prevailed, 80-69, at the O'Connell Center in the second round of the Preseason Big Apple NIT. Livingston Chatman scored 25 points to lead the way, giving the Orange and Blue its fifth-straight win against the Yellow Jackets.

Most of the previous meetings were held before Georgia Tech — a charter member of the Southeastern Conference — left the SEC in 1964. The Yellow Jackets hold the edge in the all-time series, 24-20, dating back to 1929, but have just one win in seven tries since leaving the league.

With the addition of Tech to the schedule, Florida is now set to face four ACC teams next season. Along with the annual rivalry matchup against the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee, the Gators will also face the Miami Hurricanes in Tampa in the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic to open the regular-season schedule, along with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Players Era Festival held in Las Vegas, and a home game against the Duke Blue Devils for the ACC/SEC Challenge.
