Fever linked to mind-blowing blockbuster trade with Sparks involving Caitlin Clark originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Indiana Fever aren’t off to the best start to the 2026 WNBA season.
Indiana has lost three of their four games after starting with a 4-2 record, and more concerningly, Caitlin Clark has struggled to find her shooting touch lately (she’s connected on less than 40% of her field goals and less than 40% of his three-point jumpers in her last four outings).
Clark has also clashed with head coach Stephanie White and assistant coach Briann January, sparking speculation about her relationship with the organization.
Lakers legend and commentator Mychal Thompson is under the impression that the tension between Clark and the Fever is real, prompting him to suggest a mind-blowing blockbuster deal involving Caitlin Clark, the Fever, and the Los Angeles Sparks could be a viable possibility.
“I’m hearing from a reliable source the Fever dont want Caitlin no more,” Thompson wrote on X/Twitter Friday. “SPARKS…Go get her…NOW!!!”
Thompson isn’t alone when it comes to linking Clark to the Sparks, as outspoken journalist Jason Whitlock recently floated the idea of the two-time All-Star leaving Indiana for Los Angeles. It’s a challenging idea to envision, considering that despite her recent struggles and failure to land on the same page with the Fever’s coaching staff at times, Clark is unquestionably a player the organization should be all-in on building around.
Growing pains are a large part of being a young player in the WNBA, and the former Iowa Star is experiencing them just like many others. Giving up on Clark after less than three seasons would be an all-time blunder by the Fever, one they should aim to avoid at all costs.
