Kyle Harrison only pitched five innings in his return from the injured list Wednesday night, Aug. 5, but his Milwaukee Brewers' teammates couldn't have asked for much more.

Harrison struck out 10 hitters on 69 pitches in a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. In addition to that maximum efficiency, he also punched out the last eight hitters he faced.

Harrison came out for the sixth inning, but was forced to leave the game due to cramps in both calves. His early departure kept him from challenging Corbin Burnes' team and MLB record when Burnes fanned 10 hitters in a row in 2021. Burnes shares the record with Aaron Nola and Tom Seaver.

It was the fourth time this season Harrison has struck out at least 10 batters. He allowed only one hit.

Harrison's fine outing comes one night after Logan Henderson struck out eight hitters over six innings in a 4-2 victory. Suddenly the noise about the Brewers failing to trade for Tarik Skubal has faded.

Here's a bit of reaction via social media on Harrison's stellar return performance:

NL starters with the highest K-rate this season (min. 50 IP):

1) Jacob Misiorowski (40.6%)
2) Logan Henderson (32.3%)
3) Zack Wheeler (31.3%)
4) Kyle Harrison (31.1%)

Kyle Harrison threw 19 balls total out of his 69 pitches. Paul Skenes threw 17 balls in the bottom of the 4th inning alone. #ThisIsMyCrew

Keeping Kyle Harrison and Logan Henderson on our ball club was more important than getting Skubal or an average power bat ‍♂️

Is Kyle Harrison better than Tarik Skubal?!

Many are asking. #Brewers
