Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors as part of an agreement that led to more serious charges being dismissed.
On Friday, March 6, Moore pleaded no contest to malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespass during a hearing before a district court judge, while prosecutors agreed to drop three other charges, including felony home invasion, according to reports from the Detroit Free Press, MLive and ESPN's Dan Wetzel.
In December, Moore was fired by the University of Michigan after administrators said he had engaged in an extramarital affair with a football team staffer.
That same day, Moore was accused of driving to the staffer's home, grabbing butter knives and threatening suicide.
"I'm gonna kill myself! I'm gonna make you watch! My blood is on your hands! You ruined my life," Moore allegedly said, according to prosecutor Kati Rezmierski.
Moore was later arrested after leaving the staffer's home after she said she was calling her attorney, according to prosecutors.
Moore, who is married with three children, was fired with cause in the second year of a five-year contract he'd signed with the university.

The Free Press reported that Moore appeared in court Friday while holding hands with his wife, Kelli, who sat in the first row of the courtroom during proceedings.
According to Wetzel and the Free Press, Moore sentencing is scheduled for April 14. He could face up to six months behind bars.
Moore was hired as Michigan's head coach in 2024 following the departure of his predecessor, Jim Harbaugh, under whom he served as offensive coordinator.
