The Cincinnati Bengals feel like the destination for Ohio State safety Caleb Downs in the 2026 NFL draft.
It’s one of those inescapable links that emerge early in the draft process each year.
So much so, it even has some of Downs’ relatives talking about it.
The relative? Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs.
“The Bengals or Giants would be pretty cool,” Downs said during a sitdown with Overtime. “The Bengals…one of my dogs, DJ Turner, played in the secondary, and their linebacker Barrett Carter, I went to high school with both of those dudes. They’re gonna build something over there.”

Josh mentions some Bengals connections he has, such as DJ Turner and Barrett Carter, which is a fun note.
But the real point, of course, is the Bengals’ extreme need at the safety spot they haven't been able to get right since Jessie Bates left. Geno Stone is a free agent and wasn’t the right fit, and so far, Jordan Battle hasn’t found his footing, either.
Of course, given how obvious the fit is, Downs would actually need to make it to No.10 for the Bengals to actually get him.
