It's going to be nearly impossible not to pay attention to how Mike Evans performs for the San Francisco 49ers this season.
After 12 magnificent seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans shockingly left in free agency for the Niners, claiming he wanted a "new challenge" as he enters the twilight of his amazing career.
For what it's worth, former Bucs' head coach Bruce Arians is skeptical of Evans' reasoning for leaving Tampa, and believes there was some unknown issue that caused the future Hall of Famer to leave town.
The Bucs must find a way to move forward without Evans. Whatever the reason is for his departure, Tampa's all-time leading receiver is in San Francisco now.
And reportedly still looking great.
The reports about Evans in SF have been overwhelmingly positive. His new teammates are raving about their new top wide receiver, according to NinersWire.
Fullback Kyle Juszczyk made an appearance on the NFL Network and made it clear just how good Evans has looked so far, and that he is exceeding the high expectations everyone had for him.
"Mike has been so impressive, and I feel like that's saying so much because we were expecting so much," Juszczyk said. "Your expectations are already high, and I feel like he's already exceeded that. He has been unguardable at practice. Red zone has been an absolute problem."
Star tight end George Kittle also has weighed in, claiming that Evans has been "cooking" everyone in practice.
Evans now joins a loaded 49ers' offense, joining Kittle, running back Christian McCaffery, and fellow WRs Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, and second-round rookie De'Zhaun Stribling as quarterback Brock Purdy's new arsenal of weapons.
San Francisco once again looks to have one of the best rosters in the entire NFL. However, sharing a division with the reigning champions, the Seattle Seahawks, and the current Super Bowl favorites, the Los Angeles Rams, could make reaching the playoffs difficult.
Even without Evans, the Bucs still look like a good team this season. They are currently the favorites to win the NFC South and return to the postseason after last year's 2-7 collapse down the stretch cost Tampa a trip to the playoffs.
Even though the 49ers are the better team on paper, the Bucs, thanks to a weak division, may have a much easier path to the playoffs. It would be selfishly satisfying to see the team Evans left Tampa for miss the postseason while the Bucs make it.
Because of Evans, Bucs' fans will be paying extra attention to the 49ers this year. So far, the reports on Evans are saying the all-time great looks as good as ever, and is fitting right in with his new team.
Time for the Bucs' receiving corps, led by Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin Jr. to step up its own game.
