ESPN has named the Miami Dolphins' roster "the worst roster in the NFL going into the 2026 season."
In other news, the sun rose this morning, it's hot and humid in South Florida and will remain that way until October and the United States men's soccer team will not win the World Cup.
Explaining its landmark decision, ESPN said, "(De'Von) Achane is the star of Miami's offense, and it's not close... The Dolphins are in full rebuild mode and have several units that rank among the league's worst."
Here is the bottom line: no one - not even the most optimistic Miami fan - has suggested the Dolphins' roster would be anywhere close to the upper echelon of the NFL. A combination of no salary cap room to sign free agents - and dumping stars such as Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb and Minkah Fitzpatrick - and going heavy on the NFL Draft and rookies obviously leads to that conclusion.
Of course, the Dolphins' roster actually might not be the worst in the league, but it is close to the basement. But a headline stating that would not draw any interest.
So, take this for what it's worth. And strap yourself in for what promises to be a very, very long 2026 season.
