The England and Argentina players aren’t the only ones competing for their countries during the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal matchup.

The two soccer-loving nations are hopeful they will earn a place in the final at MetLife Stadium against Spain. However, Argentina and England got into a heated road race prior to kickoff Wednesday afternoon.

Lionel Messi and Jude Bellingham aren’t the only ones in the midst of competition for the crucial Argentina-England affair. Fox Sports aired a viral video ahead of the game that featured both countries’ team buses racing on the highway.

The video shows the England team bus passing Argentina’s bus on the highway en route to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

It’s clear that neither bus was exactly breaking any speeding laws, but England fans will certainly point back to this crucial social media encounter based on the result of the World Cup semifinal.

Both countries have endured tense moments at the World Cup with tightly-contested matches before the semifinal. However, Argentina and England’s history on and the off the field is certainly a dramatic one.

The FBI already revealed prior to kickoff of the World Cup semifinal that Argentina-England poses the greatest security risk of the entire tournament. Both countries have a long history of intense matches on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the Falklands War of 1984 also plays a rich role in their history after England attempted to claim the islands off the coast of Argentina.

Both countries are aiming to book a place in the 2026 World Cup final after Spain surprised France with a win Tuesday. Argentina is hopeful that Messi and Co. can hoist a second straight trophy this summer after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, England hasn’t won a World Cup since 1966 and that has their nation’s fanbase antsy for a championship.
