CATLIN, Ill. (WCIA) — Devin Ehler made an impact on a national stage after earning a third place finish in Greco-Roman Wrestling at 144lb in Fargo, North Dakota at the US Marine Corps 16U Junior Nationals.
With this performance, he is the first Fargo All-American wrestler in Oakwood-Salt Fork program history, which he said has always been a goal of his.
Despite not finishing first, he is pleased with his first experience at what he calls the most prestigious tournament in America.
“Basically my goal was just to go out there and leave every ounce of effort, every ounce of everything I had in me out on the mat, and I did just that. It maybe wasn’t quite the goal of being a national champion, but I was able to take third place and show who I was as a wrestler, as a person, and it really defines a lot about someone, and that’s what I like doing.”
Ehler is entering his junior year wrestling for OSW, coming off a fourth-place finish at state as a freshman and a third-place finish last year in Class 1A.
