PHILADELPHIA − The Eagles' goal with this NFL Draft class was to come away with players who could add to the core of recent draft picks as their veterans either age or price themselves out of Philly in the coming years.

So the object was to find players like Jalen Hurts, Cam Jurgens, Landon Dickerson, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Those are the players the Eagles want to keep as long as possible, and eventually pay with lucrative second contracts.

So far, so good. Here are the grades for each of the Eagles' picks in the NFL Draft.

Grade: A

Why: The Eagles managed to get a player, by trading up one spot to No. 31, in Campbell who was expected to go much higher in the first round. Campbell, coming off shoulder surgery, gives the Eagles value as both an off-ball linebacker and edge rusher. In other words, he can − and will − play anywhere.

Andrew Mukuba NFL draft grade

Grade: B

Why: Mukuba fits into the Eagles' theme of finding versatile players who have speed and physicality, not to mention ball skills with 5 INTs last season for Texas. But how well will those traits play in the NFL for a safety who's 5-foot-11, 186 pounds?
