After weeks of battling themselves and the summer heat, the Philadelphia Eagles will begin evaluating their reworked roster under game conditions when they visit the Baltimore Ravens for Saturday night’s preseason opener.
Philadelphia’s established starters might receive limited work or remain on the sideline, but the game represents an important opportunity for rookies, reserves and players competing for roster spots. The Eagles must eventually reduce their offseason roster to 53 players, making each preseason snap valuable for those trying to separate themselves in crowded position battles.
The roster includes recent additions David Blay, Ja’Quinden Jackson and Tarron Jackson. Philadelphia signed all three after placing running back Elijah Mitchell on injured reserve and waiving guard Jaeden Roberts and tight end Dae’Quan Wright. The team also recently brought wide receiver Brandon Hayes back to the roster.
With kickoff for the preseason opener just hours away, here is the Eagles’ active roster entering the matchup, organized by position.
Jalen Hurts (No. 1), Cole Payton (10), Andy Dalton (14) and Tanner McKee (16).
Hurts is firmly established as Philadelphia’s starter. The preseason should provide more meaningful work for Dalton, McKee and Payton as the Eagles evaluate their depth behind him.
Tank Bigsby (8), Saquon Barkley (26), Will Shipley (28), Carson Steele (34), Dameon Pierce (39) and Ja’Quinden Jackson (45).
Barkley anchors the group, but the competition behind him remains worth monitoring. Bigsby, Shipley, Steele, Pierce and Jackson will have opportunities to contribute on offense and special teams.
Hollywood Brown (0), DeVonta Smith (6), Makai Lemon (9), Dontayvion Wicks (13), Britain Covey (18), Elijah Moore (19), Samori Toure (46), Brandon Hayes (47), Erik Ezukanma (49), Darius Cooper (80), Danny Gray (82), Quez Watkins (86) and Johnny Wilson (89).
Receiver is one of Philadelphia’s deepest competitions. Lemon, the team’s first-round pick, joins Smith and Wicks among the projected starters, leaving several veterans and younger players competing for the remaining roles.
Cameron Latu (36), Grant Calcaterra (81), Johnny Mundt (83), E.J. Jenkins (84), Stone Smartt (85), Eli Stowers (87) and Dallas Goedert (88).
Goedert remains the established starter. Calcaterra, Mundt and the rest of the group will use the preseason to establish the depth chart behind him.
Cam Jurgens (51), Tyler Steen (56), Willie Lampkin (61), Hollin Pierce (63), Lane Johnson (65), Drew Kendall (66), John Ojukwu (67), Jordan Mailata (68), Landon Dickerson (69), Markel Bell (72), Cameron Williams (73), Fred Johnson (74), Jake Majors (75), Micah Morris (76), Myles Hinton (78) and Michael Jordan (79).
Philadelphia’s starting line is largely established, including Steen at right guard. The opener should provide an extended evaluation of the reserve tackle and interior-line competitions.

Baun provides experience in the middle of the defense, while Philadelphia continues developing its younger linebackers. Coverage assignments, tackling and special-teams production will be important against Baltimore.
Riq Woolen (2), Kelee Ringo (7), Mac McWilliams (22), Jakorian Bennett (23), Quinyon Mitchell (27), Shaun Wade (30), Jonathan Jones (32), Cooper DeJean (33), Kapena Gushiken (34), Michael Carter II (35), Ambry Thomas (38), Tariq Castro-Fields (41) and J.T. Gray (48).
Mitchell and DeJean headline a talented secondary. The preseason will help determine the depth behind them and provide opportunities for players capable of filling multiple roles.
Cole Wisniewski (21), Andrew Mukuba (24), Marcus Epps (29), Andre’ Sam (31) and Maximus Pulley (36).
Mukuba enters his second season with an opportunity to solidify his role. Epps brings veteran experience, while Wisniewski, Sam and Pulley will need to contribute defensively and on special teams.
Jake Elliott (4), Braden Mann (10) and Rocco Underwood (37).
Elliott and Mann return as Philadelphia’s established kicker and punter. Underwood will handle long-snapping duties while attempting to secure the position entering the regular season.
