DWU's Alison Ernsberger tabbed as GPAC pitcher of the week for second straight time

Apr. 7—SIOUX CITY, Iowa. — For the second-straight week, Dakota Wesleyan University softball standout Alison Ernsberger has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Ernsberger, a sophomore from Granville, Ohio, grabbed a 6-1 win in the circle in the first game of the Tigers' home doubleheader against Briar Cliff on March 30. Ernsberger tossed a complete game, going all seven innings, tallying 11 strikeouts while only giving up one earned run.

As of April 7, the right-hander ranks third in the GPAC in strikeouts with 102, plus a 2.12 earned-run average in 99 innings pitched. She's tied for third in the league in pitching wins with her teammate Mandalyn Nachtigall with 10 each. DWU has won eight games in a row and Ernsberger has picked up the pitching victory in five of them.

DWU (26-11, 9-1 GPAC) plays at Waldorf next on Wednesday, April 8, for a 2 p.m. doubleheader in Forest City, Iowa. The Tigers' final two home doubleheaders of the season are on April 17 and 18, hosting Mount Marty and Midland, respectively.
