Duke usually makes a mid-to-late season trip to Madison Square Garden, but this year, the Blue Devils may go twice.

If so, the first time will be against Georgia in the Jimmy V Classic. The date hasn’t been released yet, but more than likely, it will be early in the season. If the Blue Devils schedule a second game, a trip out of the conference before the tournament, it’ll most likely be in January or February.

This continues a great tradition by Jon Scheyer of building very, very competitive non-conference schedules. This upcoming season, aside from the Bulldogs, Duke will play Michigan State, Illinois, UConn, Michigan, if all works out with the Big Ten and Fox, and Gonzaga. Oh, and of course, whoever Duke draws in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

That’s a highly challenging slate, and as fans, we really appreciate getting such a solid schedule. The purpose of course is to test the team, and to get it ready for March. This is looking like fun.

The other game in the Jimmy V Classic, by the way, will be Alabama vs. Houston. Big Apple fans will be getting their money’s worth.
