The future of the Duke Blue Devils basketball program falls into recruiting classes, beginning with the 2027 cycle. After turning in the top class in 2026, Duke will look to have a great class once again in 2027.
It's still early on in the recruiting cycle but Duke has one commitment so far. That came from four-star forward Kager Knueppel, the younger brother of former Duke star Kon Knueppel.
Kager committed last month, giving Duke its first recruit and a foundation to build on for the 2027 class. Since then, the recruit has seen his stock climb even higher thanks to his stellar play. And now, that should continue.
After starting the Nike EYBL Peach Jam on a good note, Kager continued to play well throughout. He helped Team Herro get to the 17U semifinals before they lost to Florida Rebels 84-76. But in that game, Knueppel finished with 24 points, all from the three-point line as he went 8-for-13 from there in the game. He added five rebounds, five blocks and a steal in the game.
It was a big showing for Knueppel who is approaching five-star status potentially later this Fall. He's climbed up into the top 30 of recruiting rankings recently, giving him a big boost.

While Knueppel is a forward, he has shown his ability to make shots from behind the three-point line. His brother, Kon, was also very good at that as well. Having that for a recruit in your 2027 class is huge.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound small forward plays at Wisconsin Lutheran and is ranked No. 21 nationally, the No. 2 small forward and No. 2 player in the state of Wisconsin per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. Another update should be coming sometime this fall and if he continues to play at this level, he could climb even higher.
For Duke, they have some big targets remaining on their recruiting board. They are after some top five-star recruits and while many expect it to be a smaller 2027 class for the Blue Devils, it should still be a good one when it's all said and done.
