Duke Athletics concluded its 2025-26 campaign ranked 11th in the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. This marks the Blue Devils’ second consecutive 1,000-point season and their highest point total since 2013-14.
While Duke is one of the most prestigious universities in the world with regard to academics, the athletic department has incredibly high standards of its own.
“I’ll tell you, with what other sports are doing here, they’ve done an incredible job,” men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer said back in 2023.
The Blue Devils accumulated 1,039.25 points to place 11th nationally and fourth among ACC schools. Duke finished second in the state of North Carolina, behind the state’s flagship school, UNC, which finished fourth. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championship competition.
National semifinal appearances by both the women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse teams earned the Blue Devils 83 points each, while men’s and women’s basketball both raked in 73 points, respectively. Duke’s football team, which won the ACC Championship Game and the Sun Bowl, finished with 45 points.
The Blue Devils have had historically strong finishes in the 32-year existence of the Director’s Cup, finishing in the top-30 nationally in all but two years.
“The standard is the standard,” Duke football head coach Manny Diaz said in March. “Duke is Duke. And if it’s got those four letters attached to it, the standard is excellence.”
