Drake basketball added a new piece to the program on Wednesday.
Braden Appelhans announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on social media. The 6-foot-7 guard comes to Drake after three seasons at New Mexico.
Appelhans played in 31 games this season, averaging 3.3 points per game off the bench. He scored a season-high 18 points and played 22 minutes against Western New Mexico in December.
He played in 10 games as a freshman before taking a medical redshirt, and he appeared in 15 games in the 2023-24 season.
Appelhans is a Missouri native but played his senior season of basketball at the Western Reserve Academy in Ohio. While at Blue Spring High School in Missouri, he shot 51.4% from 3-point range, the sixth-best percentage in Missouri high school history, according to his New Mexico roster biography.
