DraftKings ranks 10 NFL quarterbacks with most interceptions thrown since 2020

When evaluating NFL quarterbacks, touchdown passes and passing yards usually dominate the conversation. But interceptions remain one of the most telling statistics for measuring risk-taking, decision-making, and offensive philosophy. Some of the league’s best quarterbacks also rank among its interception leaders—not because they’re careless, but because they throw the ball more often, take more chances downfield, and carry the offensive load for their teams.

DraftKings recently highlighted the quarterbacks who have thrown the most regular-season interceptions since the start of the 2020 season.

4. Matthew Stafford – 62
5. Kirk Cousins – 60
6. Jared Goff – 60
7. Tua Tagovailoa – 59
8. Justin Herbert – 58
9. Trevor Lawrence – 58
10. Dak Prescott – 56

The List Comes With Important Context​

At first glance, seeing names like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes at the top of the list may come as a surprise. However, interceptions alone don’t tell the full story.

Allen and Mahomes have consistently ranked among the NFL’s passing leaders while carrying enormous workloads for their respective offenses. The more a quarterback throws, the more opportunities there are for interceptions. Both have also built reputations for extending plays and attempting difficult throws that many quarterbacks simply wouldn’t attempt.

The same can be said for players like Matthew Stafford, whose aggressive style has always resulted in both explosive plays and turnovers.

Aggressive Quarterbacks Often Produce Big Results​

The rankings also reinforce an interesting trend around today’s NFL.

Many of the quarterbacks on the list have led their teams deep into the playoffs or won division titles during this stretch. Coaches are increasingly willing to live with occasional interceptions if it means their quarterback is creating explosive plays and consistently moving the offense.

That’s especially true in today’s pass-heavy league, where conservative football rarely wins championships.

Turnovers Still Matter​

None of this is to suggest interceptions should be ignored. Ball security remains one of the most important aspects of quarterback play, and limiting turnovers often separates good teams from great ones.

Still, these rankings show that even elite quarterbacks aren’t immune to mistakes. Sometimes, the willingness to take chances is exactly what makes a franchise quarterback special.

While Josh Allen currently tops the list with 73 interceptions since 2020, every player in the top 10 has proven capable of leading winning teams despite the occasional turnover. In today’s NFL, aggression often comes with risk—and for many of the league’s best quarterbacks, it’s a tradeoff their teams are more than willing to accept.
