India's Belfast T20Is under threat as anti-immigration violence grips Northern Ireland
India are set to play two T20 internationals against Ireland on June 26 and 28 in Belfast, but the fate of those two games are reportedly hanging by a thread following a surge of anti-immigration violence that has shaken Northern Ireland's capital.
According to Dainik Jagran, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has flagged serious concerns about the deteriorating security situation and remains open to shifting the matches to an alternative venue if conditions do not improve.
The unrest began on the night of June 9 when a man in his 40s suffered severe knife wounds to his face, neck and back in a street attack in north Belfast. A Sudanese man in his 30s was charged with attempted murder, possession of a knife in a public place and making threats to kill.
The footage of the assault spread rapidly on social media, and what started as street protests quickly deteriorated into full-scale rioting. Authorities had to deploy water cannons, and additional police deployments were made to contain the disorder.
However, several migrant families have been forced to flee their homes amid fears of further attacks. It has been reported that around 27 people were made homeless after rioters went door to door targeting foreign nationals, and the fire brigade attended to 62 incidents across the city.
Cricket Ireland is continuing to monitor the situation in areas currently experiencing community unrest and will make a decision within the next 48 hours regarding this Sunday's Irish Senior Cup and National Cup fixtures.

BCCI in constant touch with Irish authorities
According to reports, the BCCI has responded swiftly and remains in touch with Irish cricket officials.
An official from the board confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored and that relocating the two fixtures from Belfast to a safer venue remains an option if Belfast does not return to normalcy soon.
However, the BCCI also acknowledged that the final call on the venue rests with Cricket Ireland. Any request from the Irish board to shift the matches would receive full consideration from their Indian counterparts.

The series will mark Shreyas Iyer's first assignment as India's T20 captain, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who lit up IPL 2026 like few players before him, is in line to make his senior international debut.
After Ireland, India travel to England for five T20Is and three ODIs through July, making Belfast the launchpad for a significant summer tour.
