The New York Knicks continued their impressive postseason run on Saturday night, taking a 3-0 Eastern Conference Finals lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 121-108 final score in Game 3.
As the Cavaliers fans flooded out of the exits late in the fourth quarter, a strong “Let’s Go Knicks” chant rang out at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena.
Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell was asked about this chant during his postgame press conference. Mitchell was born and raised in New York and is not shy about the fact that he grew up as a staunch Knicks supporter.
“I’m from New York, this doesn’t shock me. They do it in every arena,” Mitchell said. “That’s how Knicks fans are. I was one back in the day.”
Mitchell went on to defend Cavaliers fans, despite Knicks supporters taking over the arena late in the game.
“Cleveland has the best fans in the world. I’ll stand on that,” Mitchell added. “That doesn’t label who Cleveland is. I have nothing but love for the fans in Cleveland. We didn’t get it done for out home crowd tonight.”

Mitchell finished the Game 3 loss with 23 points on 9-for-21 shooting from the field and 3-for-10 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. He was outdueled by Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson, who recorded a game-high 30 points in the critical Game 3 matchup.

Mitchell and the Cavaliers will look to defend home court in a Game 4 matchup on Monday night. If they’re able to notch their first victory of the series, the Eastern Conference Finals will return to Madison Square Garden for Game 5.
