Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis squared off in a Heavyweight bout earlier tonight (Sun., June 14, 2026) on the White House South Lawn from Washington, D.C., for UFC Freedom 250. In a sloppy scrap, Hokit dominated Lewis en route to a second-round knockout win.
Hokit began the night with a middle finger as one might expect. The action actually began with some kicks from Hokit, who slowly moved Lewis toward the fence. Hokit scored well with an early right hand. Shortly afterward, Hokit ducked a swing from Lewis and landed an easy double leg takedown. Standing over his foe from guard, Hokit landed heavy shots. When Lewis worked to stand, Hokit easily threw him back to the floor with a single leg takedown.
Hokit moved into a dominant position as Lewis bled freely. Out of nowhere, Hokit jumped on an armbar! He seemed to have the hold locked in, but he couldn’t secure the proper leverage to finish the hold.
Surprisingly, Lewis survived the first.
Lewis pushed forward early in round two and actually stuffed a takedown! In the process, he landed a few clubbing shots as well. Meanwhile, Hokit continued to pop the jab. Hokit landed a heavy four-punch combination that stunned Lewis, and he followed up with another heavy right hand connection. Though badly fatigued, Lewis didn’t give up on himself and continued to fire back every so often. Hokit was landing every right hand he threw!
Lewis was stumbling over himself between attempted haymakers. The fight moved into the clinch, where Hokit landed knees and elbows. Finally, Hokit put together a heavy series of punches that floored Lewis, earning Hokit the knockout finish.
This was the one-sided beatdown that most of us expected. Hokit play the matchup smartly, using his wrestling early in the fight to exhaust the veteran. By round two, Lewis could hardly stand, let alone fight effectively. Add in Hokit’s significant speed advantage, and it’s no surprise Lewis hardly landed a shot.
In the last two months, Hokit has now scored two major UFC wins. At 28 years of age, he’s suddenly a contender, an obvious talent that is going to be around for many years to come.
Result: Hokit defeats Lewis via knockout
