The Miami Dolphins and seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey mutually agreed to explore trade options, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ramsey, 30, has been among the biggest defensive stars in the NFL for the last decade and one of the most dominant cornerbacks. The Dolphins acquired him in a 2023 trade from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. But in 2024, Ramsey wasn't elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time since his rookie year and was credited by Pro Football Focus with missing a career-high 14 tackles.
Under Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Ramsey proved to be an effective blitzer last season, recording one sack, four quarterback hits, and six tackles for loss. However, he allowed a completion on 70.8 percent of the targets thrown his direction, another career-worst mark.
Even in a relatively down year, though, Ramsey was one of Miami's better defensive players last season and is one of the veteran leaders of the unit. Trading away the star cornerback would leave the team with Storm Duck, Kader Kohou, Cam Smith, Artie Burns, and Ethan Bonner as the top options at the position.
According to Rapoport, the Dolphins already picked up a $4 million roster bonus for Ramsey earlier this offseason, so any team that acquired the cornerback would pick up $21.1 million of his fully guaranteed $25.1 million salary.
