The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to struggle with putting together consistent hitting performances from game to game, and Friday’s game vs. the Brewers was only the latest example.
The Dodgers lost 5-1 to the Brewers, a game where the team always looked like a long shot to win.
Los Angeles only totaled three hits compared to the nine hits from Milwaukee. A lot of the damage from the Brewers came from the first inning, where Justin Wrobleski struggled.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way player Shohei Ohtani (17) strikes out during the fifth inning of their game against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, May 22, 2026 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Shohei Ohtani was the best hitter on the squad with a hit and a walk, alongside a sacrifice fly. It was good to see him have a good amount of success, even if the team could not do the same.
The only other two hitters to get hits were Teoscar Hernandez and Dalton Rushing, who ended his 0-for-19 hitless streak.
The Dodgers did have moments with runners in scoring position, which came from walks. They had six total, including two from Freeman.
However, the team finished 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
The Dodgers’ pitching keeps the team in games
He gave up six hits and a walk, totaling 38 pitches, and gave up four runs. After that, for the next four innings, he only gave up two more hits, a walk, and one run.
Wrobleski finished the night with just four strikeouts and a 3.07 ERA, marking his second poor start over his last three outings.
Justin Wrobleski, after the 1st: 4 IP, 2 hits, 1 walk
This was always a bad matchup for him, considering Wrobo invites contact and the Brewers thrive on a high BABIP.
He will need better stuff vs. teams like this, but it does not erase his effectiveness so far this year. pic.twitter.com/LBAB2dcrD5

He had a bounce-back against the measly Angels, but after his first inning against the Brewers, the southpaw has adjustments to make.
The bullpen continued their scoreless streak with Paul Gervase pitching well, allowing just a hit and a walk, while Jonathan Hernandez had a clean inning in the 8th.
Saturday’s game vs the Brewers
On Saturday, the Dodgers will roll out Roki Sasaki, who is coming off two strong starts.
The Japanese pitcher will be tested against the contact team similarly to Wrobleski, but his stuff has the ability to get those whiffs and chases and keep him out of harm, as long as his command is there.
Max Muncy, who was hit in the wrist, will not play on Saturday, with Santiago Espinal taking over.
