The Los Angeles Dodgers continued adjusting their pitching staff on Saturday, making a series of roster moves aimed at reinforcing the bullpen.
Right-handers Kyle Hurt and Wyatt Mills were added to the active roster, replacing Will Klein and Cole Irvin. Klein was placed on the Injured List because of right elbow discomfort, while Irvin was designated for assignment, opening a spot on the club's 40-man roster.
The move ends Irvin's brief stint on the major-league roster after he was recalled earlier this week to provide length for an injury-depleted pitching staff.
Irvin, 32, returned to the majors for the first time since the 2024 season after spending last year pitching in South Korea and opening 2026 with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The veteran left-hander earned another opportunity after posting a 3.58 ERA across 20 starts in Triple-A, where he served as a dependable innings eater despite modest strikeout production.
His lone appearance with Los Angeles came on Friday, when he was asked to cover significant innings in relief. Irvin worked six frames but surrendered six earned runs on eight hits, absorbing the loss.
While he kept the Dodgers from exhausting the rest of their bullpen, the outing ultimately proved to be his only appearance before the organization removed him from the roster.
Because he was designated for assignment, the Dodgers now have one week to trade Irvin or place him on waivers. If he clears waivers, he could remain in the organization or elect free agency, depending on his roster status.
Klein's move to the Injured List comes after a difficult stretch on the mound. The 26-year-old had allowed runs in each of his last five appearances after beginning July with one of the better ERAs among Dodgers relievers.
The club announced that Klein is dealing with right elbow discomfort, though no timetable has been provided for his return.
His absence created an opportunity for Hurt and Mills to join the bullpen as Los Angeles continues navigating injuries throughout its pitching staff. This follows Brock Stewart, who was placed on the Injured List on Friday and is expected to miss time as well.
