The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up right-handed relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers traded for Halvorsen on July 20, acquiring the hard-throwing right-hander from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek.
Halvorsen pitched 21 times in the majors for the Colorado Rockies prior to his move to the Dodgers, posting a 4.74 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 19 innings before the trade. The Dodgers kept him in Triple-A after his arrival, and he posted fantastic numbers with the Comets.
He held opponents scoreless through 6.1 innings pitched, striking out eight batters in the process. He massively cut down on his walk rate in Triple-A, issuing just two free passes after allowing 15 in 19 innings in the majors with the Rockies earlier in the season.
While his 2026 season hasn’t been the best, Halvorsen has shown the ability to be a top-quality reliever in MLB before. He made his MLB debut in 2024 with the Rockies, making a total of 12 appearances over the course of the season. He had a 1.46 ERA during that stretch, walking just two batters and striking out 13 batters.
If the right-hander can manage his control with the Dodgers, he could be an extremely important arm for the remainder of the season.

Why Are the Dodgers Calling Up Seth Halvorsen?
The Dodgers are in the midst of their worst stretch of the season, having lost eight of their last nine games. The bullpen, while note the main issue during their rough stretch, could certainly use some improvement, and Halvorsen will help alleviate their load.
Dodgers relievers have a 4.71 ERA throughout this nine-game stretch, which ranks 23rd in MLB. On the season, their bullpen’s ERA sits towards the middle of the pack with a 4.01 mark—ranking 15th.
Halvorsen’s first opportunity to make a difference with the Dodgers comes Monday, when they begin a three-game home series against the Kansas City Royals. Tarik Skubal will take the mound for his first Dodgers start at Chavez Ravine, and Halvorsen could very well follow him in as the Dodgers look to claim their second win of the month.
First pitch for Monday’s game comes at 7:10 p.m. PT.
