Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Kiké Hernández is expected to make his season debut on Monday in the series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

Hernández has been out recovering from surgery he underwent on his left elbow in November. The operation also sidelined him from representing Puerto Rico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic in March.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Sunday that he expects Hernández to be available to play on Monday.
Hernández has been a key piece in all three of the Dodgers’ World Series championships teams of the 2020s. Earning the nickname “Mr. October”, Hernández has built a reputation for coming through in big postseason moments on offense and defense for the Dodgers.
During last season’s World Series run, Hernández averaged .250 with a .290 on-base percentage, a home run and seven RBIs in 17 games. He also made appearances at third base, center field and left field for the Dodgers.
Roberts said he is excited to have Hernández’s energy back on the field this season.
“There’s a different energy with Kiké,” Roberts said Sunday, per SportsNet LA. “There’s a levity. There’s an intensity. There’s a good worker in there, a winning player. So I’m looking forward to having that edge.”
The Dodgers re-signed Hernández to a one-year, $4.5 million deal in free agency this offseason. He slashed .203/.255/.366 with a .621 OPS and 10 home runs in 93 regular season games last season.
Hernández’s return came at the perfect time while third baseman Max Muncy recovers from getting hit by a pitch on the wrist in Friday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Muncy’s X-rays were negative but Roberts said he does not expect Muncy to be in the lineup on Monday.
