The Lions lost Alex Anzalone in free agency, but re-signed Malcolm Rodriguez. While there may not be an urgent need to add a LB, the Lions shouldn't pass on a quality player. Jake Golday is one such option, although he does carry some medical concerns.
Here is the excerpt of my medical report on Jake Golday:
(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season and are factored into the concern level. Injury info and ages based on available public information are unverified and subject to update. Games played data courtesy of sports-reference.com.)
Projected round 2. #53 on Jeff Risdon board Feb 19.
Concern level 4/10
This big, tall LB (6’4”, 239lb) is reminiscent of Jack Campbell.
A recent injury that kept him out of the Shrine Bowl will need investigation. It’s always concerning when a player hasn’t had proven game action since an injury.
His possible core muscle (aka sports hernia) surgery does carry a recurrence risk as well as a risk of same issue on the other side.
Age is also slightly older than ideal.
