Derby boss responds to potential investment from Turki Alalshikh

Derby Country manager John Eustace has responded with the club on the verge of securing a massive investment deal with Turki Alalshikh.

Alalshikh, a billionaire and Saudi government official, has already made a name for himself in sports. Alalshikh has become a leading figure in the boxing world, arranging a huge number of high-profile fights. Now he is set to invest in Championship side Derby.

“You hear different things through the media obviously,” said Eustace on the potential investment. “I have spoken to the club, and they have mentioned there is a takeover. But I think there have been about three takeovers since I’ve been here, with people trying to buy the club.

“It was the same at my previous clubs, too. Until something is done, I will take it seriously.”

The Derby boss continued: “Until then, all I am focused on is preparing the team as best I can so we can get off to a really competitive start next week.

“We did really well to finish eighth last season. We had a really competitive team, and you can see 15 clubs all wanting to get into the top eight. They’ve got huge budgets, they’ve all kept their squads from last year and added to them.

“We finished ahead of some really top teams last year, and they will be really hungry to go one better, and it’s just important we get the right targets in to be as competitive as we can with everyone else.”
