The Cincinnati Bengals addressed the mild need at third wideout this offseason when they drafted Colbie Young.
Young will compete with frontrunner Andrei Iosivas and others for the third spot on the depth chart behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
But as an all-in contender, the Bengals have options.
And one of those options still appears to be DeAndre Hopkins.
Hopkins had plenty to say about Joe Burrow and the Bengals earlier this offseason before catching passes from the star quarterback during a flag football event.
Now, he’s making the rounds and talking about his next possible fit.
"I know in my position, I'm a utility guy,” Hopkins said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I'm a special situation kind of guy. I can go out there and beat anybody one on one at any time, but as of lately, I've been a third-down guy. I wasn't used in the red zone last year. But (on) third down, they're gonna put D-Hop in, they're gonna come to me. I don't think that'll change anytime soon."
Hopkins went on to say that while he’s not in a rush, he would like to play for a contender.
As we’ve stressed plenty of times in the past, adding a third-down and short-yardage option at wideout with five Pro Bowls and three First-Team All-Pro nods on his resume would be a pretty good idea.
Even better, Hopkins already knows the role he would be playing. And based on his past comments, the Bengals are certainly on his shortlist, too.
