During the 2026 NFL offseason, the Los Angeles Ramsexplored potential moves to add star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. In the midst of those talks, reports came out that the Rams considered trading Davante Adams in order to add Brown, which head coach Sean McVay later confirmed.
The move never materialized, and Brown would eventually be traded to the New England Patriots. If circumstances were different, there's a good chance Adams could've departed one year after joining the team.
Adams was asked by reporters on Saturday about those rumors, choosing to take the professional high road and avoid making those talks a personal gripe.
"I'm a teenager in this league now, so, I mean, you got to understand there's certain things that each team, you know, does or has to do in order to -- just from top to bottom -- it's just the way that this business goes," stated Adams.
While Adams would be more than justified in being angry, especially after leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns and helping Matthew Stafford win MVP, his decision to focus on the things he can control is why he remains a top player, despite his veteran status. Adams also expressed that he's happy to be back and is ready to get to work.
It's easy to see why so many within the organization hold Adams in such high regard, despite 2026 being only his second year with the franchise. Adams is entering the final year of his deal.
