Daulton Varsho’s message to Blue Jays will hit fans in the feels appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
On Monday, Daulton Varsho woke up as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, preparing to face the Houston Astros. In Monday’s game, the outfielder went 1-for-4 with an infield single. However, he played that game with the Astros following a trade before the MLB trade deadline prior to the contest.
Varsho was dealt to Houston in a one-for-one swap, with Toronto receiving Spencer Arrighetti in return. The outfielder only needed to walk across the ballpark to join his new team. But prior to the game, he took a bit of time to address his former teammates on the other side of the field.
“I think, overall, I’m in a better place now after a couple hours of getting my breath and understanding where I’m at. I obviously wish those guys the best, because I do care for a lot of those guys, especially the coaches. It’s hard,” the Astros outfielder said, via Sportsnet, while fighting back tears.

Varsho spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with Toronto following a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2023. He was a major part of Toronto’s incredible run to the World Series last season. This year, he is slashing .243/.307/.375 with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 365 plate appearances.
The Blue Jays, unfortunately, are outside of the playoff race at this time. The veteran outfielder joins an Astros team that hasn’t had much better luck this year. However, they do lead the AL West, holding a 2.5 game lead over the Texas Rangers after the win on Monday over the Blue Jays.
