Real Madrid have confirmed long-serving captain Dani Carvajal will leave the club this summer.
The 34-year-old has won six Champions League titles with his boyhood side, who he has represented in 23 of the last 24 seasons having spent the 2012-13 campaign with Bayer Leverkusen.
Carvajal has made 22 appearances in all competitions this term and Real have announced Sunday’s La Liga match at home to Athletic Bilbao will be his last for the club.
“Real Madrid CF and our captain Dani Carvajal have agreed to bring an end to a wonderful chapter as a player of our club at the conclusion of the current season,” a statement read.
“Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and affection to one of the greatest legends of our club and world football.”
Carvajal has made 450 appearances for Real, scoring 14 goals, and the club will pay tribute to the Spain international during Sunday’s season finale at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: “Dani Carvajal is a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy.
“His image alongside our beloved and remembered Alfredo Di Stefano laying the first stone of Ciudad Real Madrid will forever remain in the hearts of all Madridistas and in the history of our club.
“Carvajal has always exemplified the values of Real Madrid. This is and will always be his home.”
