Jerry Jones is said to have shown a new side to himself during this summer’s training camp.
The Dallas Cowboys are heading into season two with head coach Brian Schottenheimer as excitement grows among the fanbase.
Jones is no stranger to the microphone in Dallas, with the 83-year-old refusing to shy away from speaking his mind on most matters involving the Cowboys.
It has been a busy 12 months for Jones, who has approved some considerable decisions including Micah Parsons’ trade to the Green Bay Packers.
The Cowboys enjoyed a strong 2026 draft, with optimism over what the front office has been able to add on defense.
On the back of a busy 2025 offseason, one Cowboys reporter has admitted he’s noticed a much more restrained version of Jones this time around.

Dallas Cowboys reporter details big change noticed in Jerry Jones
Although Jones admitted the Cowboys could trade big before the deadline in November, the 83-year-old owner has taken a bit more of a back seat this offseason.
Given the Cowboys failed to even achieve a winning record last year, it is certainly a case of less talk and more action from everyone involved with the team.
“A restrained Jerry is something interesting to me,” said Mike Piellucci for D Magazine.
“I feel like last year, with the documentary coming out and the Micah [Parsons] situation, he stepped into that “main character” spotlight – overarching everything – last offseason and early on. And the blowback for him was significant.”
“But last year, with the Micah thing, him being front and center, pissing off the agents, and the Trevon Diggs situation, it was just thing after thing where he was constantly in the spotlight, and not in a good way. I don’t think he liked it very much. So, this feels like a more restrained Jerry.”
Something needed to change in Dallas, given the Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl 1996.
The Cowboys have also won just one of their last five playoff games, which Schottenheimer will certainly be targeting this season after some encouraging additions.
A quieter Jones may well provide more stability to the team, but the proof will be in the pudding when the Cowboys get their season underway against the New York Giants.
