Dec. 28—VERMILLION — Closing out its non-conference slate at home, the University of South Dakota men's basketball program cruised on Sunday afternoon.

Isaac Bruns scored 23 points to lead four Coyotes in double figures, as USD defeated Mount Marty 85-61 at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The contest counted toward the Coyotes' regular-season record but was an exhibition for the NAIA Lancers.

Though MMU led by five points in the early going, USD led from the 10:26 mark of the first half onward. By halftime, the Coyotes led 43-33. The Lancers briefly got the margin down to six points in the second half, but USD's final lead was its largest of the contest.

USD posted matching 15-for-29 (51.7%) shooting halves from the field and finished 9-for-24 (37.5%) from 3-point range. It was the Coyotes' fourth consecutive season with a win over Mount Marty, improving to 12-0 all-time against the nearby NAIA program.

Bruns added six rebounds and four assists to his tally, while Jordan Crawford posted 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Coyotes. Cameron Fens notched 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Uzziah Buntyn had 10 points and seven assists.
