Connor Zilisch's 2027 prediction: Will he return to Trackhouse Racing?

Connor Zilisch's horrendous rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series has put his future up for debate. Obviously, Trackhouse Racing wants Zilisch to drive for the organization throughout his Cup Series career, but Hendrick Motorsports could come knocking. However, would it be a viable situation for 2027?

Motorsports Wire predicts that Zilisch will drive the No. 88 car for Trackhouse Racing during the 2027 Cup Series season. Hendrick Motorsports could bring in Zilisch to replace Alex Bowman in the No. 48 car, but financials make this an opportunity more suited for the 2028 season.

For now, that would give Zilisch more time to develop and Trackhouse Racing additional opportunities to keep him in the stable. After all, the NASCAR organization knows Zilisch has the potential to be a Cup Series champion. Hendrick Motorsports could be in his future, but Zilisch should return to the No. 88 car in 2027.
