The Washington Commanders look much different than they did a year ago. Last year, the team was full of veterans, and the plan seemed to be to have a repeat of the incredible 2024 season.

However, as we now know, that didn't happen. Instead, the team was decimated by injuries, and several important pieces were unable to replicate their 2024 production. As a result, the team made some much-needed changes this offseason, including to the coaching staff.

So far, those changes look promising. The defense should now be much better with Odafe Oweh, Leo Chenal, Amik Robertson, and Sonny Styles, among others, while the offense will benefit simply from Jayden Daniels being healthy again.

Recently, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports revealed which 10 teams he thinks had the best offseasons. The Commanders made the list, coming in at No. 8.

"General manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn microwaved their initial roster with veterans such as Bobby Wagner, Dorance Armstrong, Austin Ekeler and others, but the team is transitioning," said Edwards. The defensive front was a point of emphasis as the team brought in Odafe Oweh, K'Lavon Chaisson, Leo Chenal, first-round pick Sonny Styles, fifth-round pick Joshua Josephs and others. Cornerback Amik Robertson and safety Nick Cross were good additions to the secondary. Third-round wide receiver Antonio Williams and tight end Chig Okonkwo should be immediate impact performers in the pass game."

As Edwards mentioned, the team did a good job of adding talent in multiple phases. Getting younger and faster was one of the priorities of the offseason, and it's fair to say the team accomplished that.

Fans of the Commanders will also appreciate that no other NFC East team appeared in the top 10, so Daniels thinks the Commanders had the best offseason in the division. Whether or not that translates to wins during the season remains to be seen, but it's clear there's some positive momentum building once again.

If you want to nitpick, it would've been nice to get some more pass-catchers. Terry McLaurin is still a reliable No. 1, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable relying on Dyami Brown, Max McCaffrey, and Antonio Williams as a rookie.
