In a post-NFL combine mock draft from Jordan Reid of ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts addressed their biggest need in Round 2.

At pick No. 47 -- the first for the Colts since they are without a first-round selection after trading for Sauce Gardner -- Reid had Indianapolis selecting Illinois edge rusher Gabe Jacas.

"Edge and linebacker are the top needs for the Colts' defense," Reid wrote. "Jacas would provide them with a dependable player off the edge, as he totaled 11 sacks last season and shows plenty of violence as an edge setter against the run."

Jacas is listed at 6-3 - 270 pounds and is an experienced player with nearly 2,300 career defensive snaps. Over the last two seasons, Jacas has surpassed 40 quarterback pressures and totaled 20 sacks, according to PFF.

Out of 100 eligible edge rushers last season, Jacas ranked 32nd in pass rush win rate.

GM Chris Ballard said during the NFL combine last week that the front seven was going to be prioritized this offseason. He's also mentioned previously the need to get younger and faster on defense.

At defensive end specifically, the Colts need more consistent pass rush help around Laiatu Latu. As a unit in 2025, the Colts ranked 30th in ESPN's pass rush win rate metric.

In addition to that, Samson Ebukam, Kwity Paye, and Tyquan Lewis are all free agents. This is a position group that we could see reshaped this offseason as Ballard searches for more steady pass rush production.
