The schedule for all 32 teams is out, and the Indianapolis Colts schedule release is receiving major praise. The partnership with “The Simpsons” was pure gold. There were plenty of nods to Colts Nation in the opening theme, but one is getting a lot of talk. Some fans find it funny in a “it’s better to laugh than cry” type of way while others can’t believe it was included due to the high level of embarrassment it brings on the team. Colts fans knew it was bad, but at the same time, had no idea it was this bad.

The scene shows Homer working at the power plant with Lenny and Carl updating the sign behind him which reads, “Days Without A Win In Jacksonville”. The counter held a rather revealing number: 4,252. Fan to fan, I know I’m not telling you anything you didn’t already know. The Colts’ ineptitude on the road against Jacksonville is as well documented as it is perplexing. We are now talking about it using words like “decade”, but to see it spelled out in days, was something else.

4,252 days. Let that linger for a moment. You have to go back over 11 years to reach that point. No matter what changes you experienced in your life over the last decade plus, there was always one constant; the Colts didn’t win in Jacksonville. No matter the records (some of which were number-one pick in the draft abysmally bad for the Jaguars), no matter the coaches or players, no matter the sponsors’ name on the side of the building, the Colts have been unable to beat the Jaguars on the road in 4,252 days.

The good news is that the past is the past. What has occurred over the last eleven years is behind the Colts. It will still linger until they can win in Florida, however. Every year is a chance to end the curse. Every year the curse extends. This is a new team for the Colts in 2026, and this team has never played there. “The Simpsons” showed us how bad it’s been, but don’t give up hope that this could be the year to drop that 4,252 down to 0.
