Clemson put together a statement day at McWhorter Stadium on Friday, overpowering Lipscomb and Coastal Carolina in back-to-back run-rule victories to open the Clemson Classic and reestablish momentum in front of the home crowd.

The Tigers blanked both opponents, winning by identical 8-0 scores, and finished the day with 16 runs on the board while allowing only four total hits across two games. It marked Clemson’s second straight home date featuring a run-rule decision and moved the Tigers to 8-5 overall and 3-0 at McWhorter Stadium this season.

The afternoon began with a breakthrough outing from freshman Lexie Hames, who delivered the longest and most effective appearance of her young career against Lipscomb. Hames worked six shutout innings, scattering two hits and striking out 10 while working out of several traffic-filled frames. Despite issuing a few early walks, she consistently shut the door, including a key bases-loaded strikeout that kept the Bisons off the scoreboard.

Clemson’s offense gave Hames early support in the second inning. Marian Collins opened the frame with a double, and the Tigers quickly turned it into runs behind productive at-bats from Macey Cintron and Jamison Brockenbrough. The game broke open in the fourth when Mac Pavese drove a triple into the gap to clear the bases, stretching the lead to five. Julia Knowler followed with an RBI single, and Clemson added two more an inning later to end the game early.

Collins finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored, while Pavese drove in three. Seven different Tigers recorded hits in the opener.

The nightcap brought more of the same.

Julia Knowler set the tone immediately against Coastal Carolina, launching a two-run homer in the first inning for her first long ball of the season. That early cushion proved more than enough behind Abby Dunning, who turned in her best outing in a Clemson uniform. The graduate right-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits, striking out six, and limiting free passes.

Clemson added to its lead in the fifth inning with a series of timely swings and aggressive baserunning. Jamison Brockenbrough delivered a run-scoring triple, and the Tigers capitalized on defensive mistakes and a late single to push the margin to eight and secure a second consecutive walk-off run rule.

Knowler ended the day 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in game two, while Pavese collected two more hits. Clemson again spread production throughout the lineup, showcasing depth and balance from top to bottom.
