Clemson Men’s Basketball beat Pitt on the floor, but the Tigers’ most meaningful win this weekend came off it.
Brad Brownell and his staff wore suits accessorized with a white and blue Coaches vs. Cancer pin to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Suits and Sneakers Week is from January 26th to February 1st. This is Clemson's first game of the week in the suits after not having a midweek game.
Brownell spoke on the attire after the game, "It's a very important cause. Most of us, just about everybody, have somebody they know that's been affected by that terrible disease,"
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide initiative in partnership with the American Cancer Society that mobilizes college basketball coaches to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, prevention, and patient support. By leveraging the visibility of the sport, the program turns game days into platforms for advocacy, encouraging fans to engage with the cause while watching their teams compete.
One of the initiative’s most recognizable efforts is Suits and Sneakers Week, during which coaches wear special pins, suits, or themed attire to spark conversation and promote donations. What makes Coaches vs. Cancer especially impactful is its personal nature, as many coaches, players, and staff participate in honor of loved ones affected by cancer, turning a symbolic gesture on the sideline into a meaningful statement off the court.
