The Kansas City Chiefs selected Oklahoma Sooners edge rusher R Mason Thomas with the 40th pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Thomas is an experienced pass rusher from the defensive line who finished the 2025 season as a First Team All-SEC selection.

He has displayed an exceptional take-off ability that Kansas City lacked from pass rushers last season. He will help defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo with his versatility and speed for his size against blockers. Thomas has also shown the ability to make stops in the backfield against the running game.

Thomas started 10 games last season, finishing with 26 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss with 6.5 sacks, a pass breakup, 2 forced fumbles, and a safety. He missed 3 games with a leg injury suffered during a scoop-and-score touchdown against the Tennessee Volunteers.
