After the Chargers defeated the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, they received positive injury news on running back Kimani Vidal, who left Sunday's game in the second half with an apparent neck injury.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, sources have told him that the second-year running back is diagnosed with a neck strain and is considered "day-to-day" following an MRI. While Vidal could miss time, especially with just two games remaining in the regular season, the belief that the injury is not serious is a relief for the Chargers.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh would confirm Rapaport's report during his media availability on Monday, where he said that all of Sunday’s injured players are “day to day”, including cornerbacks Donte Jackson (groin) and Ben St Juste (shoulder), offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer (hamstring), wide receiver Tre’ Harris (finger) and Vidal (neck).
Obviously, Vidal's availability in practice over the next few days will be telling as to how much limitation the neck injury has on the skilled running back who has recorded 631 yards and three touchdowns on 152 carries and 138 yards and one score on 15 receptions this season.
If Vidal is unavailable for the Chargers' Dec. 27 matchup against the Texans, Omarion Hampton will control a large portion of the running back responsibilities, with Hassan Haskins likely to serve as the backup.
