Celtic linked with both Kyogo and Kasper Hogh, please let it be the latter

Celtic has been linked with two strikers in the past 24 hours, one being former talisman Kyogo who is said to be interested in a move back to Glasgow as his woes continue to mount since his departure from the club 18 months ago…

The other player rumoured to attracting the clubs attention is also a familiar name in Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh.

Hogh available for around £7m

The club were linked with a £7 million move for the Danish international in January, but due to the Norwegian side’s terrific progress in the Champions League, any chance of a deal was effectively put on the back burner.

According to The Scottish Sun and ex-Celtic View journalist David Friel, Martin O’Neill is interested in the man who impressed in last year’s Champions League, as he found the net against sides such as Inter Milan as Bodo impressed in club’s football’s most elite competition.

Hogh is under contract until 2029, and Bodo is said to be demanding £7 million for the strikers signature, a sum that is certainly well within Celtic’s reach financially. In terms of ambition in the Boardroom that has to be doubted.

The big Danish international is what you would describe as a proper ‘number 9’ and fits the criteria of what Martin O’Neill is desperately crying out for.

Hogh’s credentials speak for themselves

Having scored 54 goals, and registered 22 assists in 103 games for the Norwegian club, Hogh’s credentials speak for themselves, and if we could get a deal over the line, it would be one that would excite us all.

Bodo who missed out on last year’s title, and are currently third in the Norwegian league, won’t be difficult to deal with and the player is reckoned to want a fresh challenge.

Celtic has just signed Camilo Duran

We have just signed Camilo Duran, who looks like he will be a terrific addition, but adding a player like Hogh would further strengthen our forward line.

As for Kyogo, it’s a thumbs down from me, as he’s had his time at the club, and is nowhere near the player he was when he played in Glasgow.

I love and respect Kyogo as a player and a person, and appreciate his contributions to the club, but we can’t afford to look back. Kyogo had a chance to return to Celtic in January but chose to stay on at Birmingham City, where he is now effectively surplus to requirements.

The problem for Kyogo coming back to Celtic

The problem for Kyogo coming back to Celtic would be getting game-time, something he couldn’t achieve at either Rennes of Birmingham on a regular basis since leaving Celtic to further his chances of playing in the World Cup that ended last night with Spain deservedly lifting the trophy.

It’s Hogh all day long for me

It’s Hogh all day long for me. Sad to say it but for Kyogo is would a resounding no. However Martin O’Neill will make the call and we’ll all have to back his decision one way or another.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
