Cashius Howell is starting to put on a show at Bengals training camp

The Cincinnati Bengals used their first pick this year on edge rusher Cashius Howell and gave him some pretty interesting usage right out of the gates.

A fortunate pick, too, since Shemar Stewart turned around and suffered an injury.

Fortunate, as well, because Howell is starting to emerge in a big way.

This really kicked off on Thursday during a Bengals training camp practice when Howell went viral for generating major pressure after getting past starting left tackle Orlando Brown Jr.:

Brown’s foot appeared to snag on a teammate’s cleat, but that’s neither here nor there. Point is, Howell has been on a steady upswing since his arrival in Cincinnati.

And really, perhaps that isn’t so shocking. While Stewart was a first-round pick because of his sheer rare blend of traits and possible upside, Howell, his teammate in college, was super productive in college.

Both can still take their own paths to breakouts from opposite ends of the upside vs. production debate. But it’s Howell as a rookie starting to demand attention right now.
