Jun. 13—SARTELL, Minn. — Cannon Falls was looking to bounce back after dropping their state quarterfinal matchup to Winona Cotter 15-5 on Thursday, but its comeback attempt in the consolation semifinals fell short.
The Bombers lost to Minnehaha Academy 13-12 on Friday at St. Cloud Orthopedics Field in Sartell, Minn.
After three innings, Cannon Falls was down 10-5, but a four-run fourth inning and a three-run seventh pulled the Bombers within one. However, they were unable to find the equalizer and force extras.
Senior outfielder Grady Meyers hit a home run for the Bombers and had three RBIs, going 3-for-4. Cole Rapp, Abram Tennessen, Tyler Meyers and Asher Wells each drove in two runs for Cannon Falls.
The Bombers, who earned the No. 4 seed in the Class 2A baseball state tournament, end their season with a 20-8 record.
