Goalkeeper Mala Grohs, who battled back from cancer to play professional football again, will leave Bayern Munich women's team at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old was diagnosed with a malign tumour in her tonsils and underwent surgery in December 2024. She returned in March 2025 in the Champions League against Olympique Lyon.
She has been competing for her place this term with Ena Mahmutovic, who was in goal for the recent Champions League semi-final defeat to Barcelona.
Grohs last started in the Bundesliga win at Werder Bremen last week and will be given an official send-off at the last Bundesliga home match of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at Bayern, said in a statement on Tuesday: "Mala came to us at a young age from Bochum in 2019 and worked her way up to the first team with great determination and discipline, becoming our number one.
"Her serious illness greatly affected us all, yet Mala kept going with impressive strength, courage and positivity, setting an example to many people."
Grohs won five league titles, one German Cup and two Supercups at Bayern.
She said: "The path wasn’t always a straight one. It demanded everything from me at various points and, in return, gave me so much more at others. Now I can look ahead in good health and look back with pride and gratitude."
