The Golden State Warriors are one game from elimination in the NBA playoffs after a 117-110 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals at home Monday night.

Jimmy Butler called Monday's Game 4 a must-win with star point guard Stephen Curry still sidelined by a hamstring injury he suffered in Game 1 last Tuesday. He said that if the Warriors lost, they "don’t have to worry about getting Steph back this year."

If they had tied the series 2-2, it would have ensured a Game 6 on Sunday, which was the target return date for Curry to come back from his Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Instead, Butler scored just 14 points, Minnesota hit 16 threes and now Golden State is facing elimination on the road Wednesday night — which puts Curry at risk for re-injury if he is rushed back to try to save the day for the outmatched Warriors.

Fans are getting louder about the tough choice they want head coach Steve Kerr to make on Curry's availability in Game 5.

"Do not bring Steph back in game 5 either," urged one fan on X.

"Don’t even try and play curry game 5, just send him somewhere that has NBA level players," said a fan disappointed by the loss.

You know what…. Ship half the team this summer and don’t risk Steph curry for game 5

"If the Minnesota Timberwolves win this game against the Golden State Warriors tonight I'm not bringing back Stephen Curry for Game 5," echoed a post before the score went final.

"And btw do NOT bring Steph Curry back for game 5," demanded an X user.

Absolutely no reason to bring back Steph Curry down 3-1 in Game 5 and make that injury worse. #MINvsGSWpic.twitter.com/Xt3XEelZ9I

Curry's hamstring will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, but the fans may get their wish as he is not expected to be cleared immediately, per The San Francisco Standard.
